The Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) has begun distributing ₦400 million in relief to Ilaje communities following a 2025 naval clash. 

The incident left residents of Obejedo, Obe-Adun, and Obe-Nla displaced and their properties destroyed.

Chairman Biyi Poroye stated the intervention follows a direct gubernatorial mandate after a formal damage assessment. The commission aims to alleviate the suffering caused by the conflict between the military and local residents.

The package includes mattresses, food, washing machines, and construction materials for damaged buildings. The commission opted for tangible goods rather than cash to ensure transparency and accountability for the funds spent.

To boost the local economy, the committee provided fifteen outboard engines and thirteen fishing boats. They also established a modern bakery to help affected families regain financial stability and support local trade.

Infrastructural repairs are a priority, with 12 new 12-bedroom houses constructed and 14 others rehabilitated. The commission also noted recent successes in completing seven jetties and renovating the long-abandoned Agadagba hospital.

While providing aid, officials urged residents to exercise restraint when interacting with military personnel. This purposeful intervention is designed to restore stability and improve living conditions across the coastal region.
