The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has warned the public about scammers using forged “Payment/Mobilisation Request Forms” to offer fake contracts.

The agency confirmed these documents are counterfeit and are designed to defraud unsuspecting individuals.

Spokesperson J.N. Osuji clarified that the NCoS follows strict Federal Government procurement laws. The service stated,

“The Service does not demand any form of payment or financial inducement from individuals or companies to award contracts,” emphasizing that any document claiming otherwise is fraudulent.

Fraudsters are also impersonating senior NCoS officials on social media to issue fake letters. They often direct victims to deposit money into private bank accounts, using stolen identities of officers to appear legitimate and bypass official procurement channels.

Citizens are urged to ignore unsolicited contract offers from unofficial sources. To avoid being scammed, individuals should verify all procurement claims directly through the agency’s official communication channels before making any financial commitments.

The NCoS advised victims to report fraudulent encounters to the Nigeria Police Force or the EFCC. Prompt reporting is essential to help law enforcement track down the criminals responsible for the forgery and impersonation.

This warning aims to protect the public and uphold the integrity of the Service’s procurement process. Staying vigilant and following official procedures are the best ways to avoid falling victim to these increasingly sophisticated financial crimes.
