IED Explosion Injures Soldier, NSCDC Officer in Imo

A soldier and an NSCDC officer were injured by an improvised explosive device, IED in Orsu, Imo State. The blast occurred at 8:35 am during a joint operation by the 34 Artillery Brigade.
The explosion happened near a suspected IPOB/ESN hideout after the personnel stepped on a concealed pressure-activated device.
This highlights the persistent danger of landmines in the region.
The injured operatives received immediate first aid on-site before being evacuated to a medical facility. Rapid medical intervention was critical for their stabilization following the encounter.
Security operations have since intensified in Orsu to dismantle insurgent camps and clear remaining threats.
The incident underscores the high-risk environment facing forces protecting the local population.
