NEMA Begins Distribution of Relief Materials to Flood Victims in Adamawa

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has commenced the distribution of relief materials to communities affected by recent flooding in Adamawa State.

In a statement released on Wednesday via its official X page, NEMA said the exercise, conducted on March 17, 2026, was carried out following the approval of the agency’s Director-General, Zubaida Umar, for the release of emergency items to impacted areas.

The distribution focused on residents of Mubi North, Mubi South, and Maiha Federal Constituency. According to NEMA, the exercise was conducted under tight security to ensure transparency and orderly delivery of the aid.

Relief items included essential food and non-food supplies such as rice, maize, spaghetti, vegetable oil, and other household necessities intended to alleviate the impact of flooding on affected families.

Speaking during the distribution, the member representing the constituency, Jaafar Abubakar Magaji, along with local community leaders, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and NEMA for their prompt response to the humanitarian needs of residents.

NEMA reaffirmed its commitment to continuing support for disaster-affected communities, noting that it will collaborate with relevant stakeholders to enhance disaster response and recovery efforts across Adamawa State.

The state has experienced repeated severe flooding in recent years, particularly in areas along the Benue River and its tributaries, including Yola North, Yola South, and surrounding local government areas. These floods have displaced thousands of residents and caused widespread destruction to homes, farmlands and infrastructure, necessitating ongoing humanitarian interventions.
