The Delta State Police Command have dismantled a kidnapping syndicate and rescued three victims from an Issele-Uku forest.

During the operation, security forces engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle and recovered an AK-47 rifle. The mission began following a kidnapping report filed on March 16, 2026.

CSP Aderemi Badiru led a swift search-and-rescue mission involving the police, military, local vigilante groups, and hunters. This joint team combed through the bushes to locate the criminal hideouts. The rapid mobilization was essential in finding the den where the victims were held.

During the confrontation, security forces exchanged gunfire with the syndicate, fatally wounding one suspect. The three kidnapped victims were successfully rescued without physical harm. They have since been safely reunited with their families following the intense encounter.

Police arrested 22-year-old Ahmadu Hassan, a Nasarawa State native found in the bush with gunshot injuries. A further search of the scene led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle. The weapon was found loaded with four rounds of live ammunition.

Spokesperson SP Bright Edafe confirmed that the wounded suspect died from his injuries and his body was moved to a mortuary. Ahmadu Hassan is currently receiving medical treatment while in police custody. The investigation into the syndicate’s activities remains ongoing.

Commissioner of Police CP Aina Adesola praised the synergy between the police, military, and local security outfits. He noted that the successful rescue demonstrated the power of inter-agency collaboration. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks.

Authorities are currently tracking fleeing members of the syndicate to ensure they face justice. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and provide the police with timely information.

This community support is vital for the ongoing fight against violent crime.
