The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has resumed full operations on the Abuja–Kaduna rail corridor following a disruption that occurred earlier this week.

Train services on the busy route were restored on Wednesday, two days after an incident on Monday, March 16, 2026, which left at least 26 passengers injured and temporarily halted movement along the line.

The Managing Director of the NRC, Kayode Opeifa, confirmed the development, stating that normal operations had resumed after swift intervention by the corporation.

“Following the incident on Monday, 16th March 2026, normal train operations have been fully restored through the swift intervention of the Nigerian Railway Corporation,” Opeifa wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.

While details of the incident remain limited, the disruption had raised concerns among commuters who rely heavily on the Abuja–Kaduna rail service, one of the most patronised routes in the country.

Rail services along the corridor are critical for easing transportation between the Federal Capital Territory and Kaduna State, offering a safer and more efficient alternative to road travel.

The NRC assured passengers of its commitment to safety, noting that necessary checks and corrective measures were carried out before operations resumed.

The corporation also reiterated its dedication to maintaining reliable services and preventing future occurrences.

Passengers have since begun returning to the trains, with operations reportedly running according to schedule as of Wednesday.
