Aduda Resigns from PDP Citing Internal Crisis
By Rachel Akper
Former Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, Philip Tanimu Aduda, has formally resigned his membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), citing ongoing internal crisis within the party.
In a resignation letter dated March 17 and addressed to the PDP Chairman of Karu Ward in Abuja, Aduda announced his decision to exit the party with immediate effect. He attributed his resignation to the persistent instability and unresolved issues within the PDP.
“I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect due to the crisis in the party,” the letter read.
Despite his departure, the former lawmaker expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities it provided him during his political career, particularly his service in elective positions at the national level.
“I remain grateful for the opportunity the party gave me to serve in various elective positions in our nation,” he stated.
Aduda served as Senator for the Federal Capital Territory across three consecutive terms in the 7th, 8th, and 9th National Assemblies from 2011 to 2023.
His resignation adds to a series of high-profile defections and exits that have recently affected the PDP, raising concerns about the party’s internal cohesion and future political strength ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
