Barcelona Thrash Sevilla, Real Madrid Wins as Atletico Edge Getafe
Leaders, FC Barcelona maintained their grip at the top of La Liga after a commanding 5-2 victory over Sevilla FC, while Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid also secured important wins in the latest round of fixtures.
At the Camp Nou, Raphinha starred with a hat-trick as Barcelona cruised past Sevilla 5-2. The Brazilian winger scored twice from the penalty spot and completed his treble early in the second half, while Dani Olmo and Joao Cancelo also found the net. Sevilla managed late goals through Djibril Sow and Oso, but the result restored Barcelona’s four-point lead at the summit.
Earlier, Real Madrid produced an emphatic 4-1 win over Elche CF at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and moved within one point of the leaders. Goals from Antonio Rudiger, Federico Valverde, Dean Huijsen, and a spectacular long-range effort by Arda Guler sealed the victory.
At the Metropolitano Stadium, Atletico Madrid secured a 1-0 victory over Getafe CF, thanks to a stunning early strike from Nahuel Molina. Getafe’s task became harder after Abdel Abqar was sent off following a VAR review for violent conduct. Atletico held firm to record their fourth consecutive league win.
Elsewhere, Girona FC delivered an impressive 3-0 victory over Athletic Club, with goals from Rincón, Azzedine Ounahi, and Claudio Echeverri.
Deportivo Alavés and Villarreal CF shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw after an own goal by Marín gave Alaves the lead before Nicolas Pepe struck deep into stoppage time to rescue a point for Villarreal.
RCD Mallorca defeated RCD Espanyol 2-1, with goals from Pablo Torre and Samu Omorodion, while Real Oviedo edged Valencia CF 1-0 thanks to a strike from Alejandro Costas.
Meanwhile, Real Betis and Celta Vigo played out a 1-1 draw, with Hector Bellerin cancelling out Ferran Jutgla’s early opener.
The final match of the round will see Rayo Vallecano host Levante UD on Monday night.
