One Arrested as Police Recover AK-47 in Keana LGA
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Nasarawa State have raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout, arresting a 43-year-old suspect and recovering firearms during the operation.
The breakthrough was announced by the Nasarawa State Police Command in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel.
According to the statement, operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID), acting on credible intelligence, stormed the hideout located at Gidan Akuya village in Keana Local Government Area.
The police said the suspected criminals attempted to flee on sighting the operatives but were pursued, leading to the arrest of one Jibril Yunusa.
A search conducted at the hideout led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine and a locally fabricated rifle.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to involvement in several kidnapping operations within the Keana and Awe Local Government Area axis of the state and provided information to aid ongoing investigations.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has directed operatives to intensify efforts to track down other fleeing members of the gang and bring them to justice.
