Ex-Abia Governors Launch Committee to Drive APC’s 2027 Election Victory

Former Abia State governors have unveiled a technical committee aimed at securing a decisive win for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

The committee, made up of ex-legislators and officials from the administrations of Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu, was inaugurated in Umuahia on Saturday.

Speaking on behalf of the former governors, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, revealed that the committee had been established in January with the mandate to develop a detailed roadmap for the party and the state. He added that preparations were ongoing for a strategic session between the committee and the ex-governors to finalize plans for the elections.

“It’s a technical committee that will determine how we establish larger teams to work towards our party’s victory,” Kalu explained. “We want to demonstrate our commitment to winning across all levels, from the presidency to the House of Assembly.”

The committee is chaired by Dr. ACB Agbazuere, former Chief of Staff to Okezie Ikpeazu. Its membership comprises individuals who served in Abia’s previous administrations from 1999 to 2023.

In a related development, Mascot Kalu, the younger brother of Orji Uzor Kalu, confirmed his intention to run for the Abia governorship in 2027 on the APC platform.

Addressing the committee, he called for strong dedication to the party’s objectives and pledged to harness Abia State’s human and material resources if elected.
