Sani Targets Completion of Over 140 Roads Across Kaduna State
The Kaduna State Government has announced plans to expedite the completion of over 140 ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects across the state, aiming to improve connectivity, boost economic activity, and enhance transportation for residents.
The Kaduna Roads Agency disclosed that approximately 1,335 kilometres of roads are currently under construction or rehabilitation, with about 60 percent already completed.
Governor Uba Sani highlighted the progress during the unveiling of a documentary titled “Roads of Legacy: Governor Uba Sani Reconnects Kaduna”, showcasing both completed and ongoing infrastructure projects under his administration.
Among the major projects recently commissioned is a road linking 76 farming communities across Igabi, Kajuru, and Chikun Local Government Areas. The project includes a 130-metre bridge over the River Kaduna and a 35-kilometre asphalt section, designed to improve rural mobility and access to markets for farmers.
Governor Sani also commissioned key urban and peri-urban roads in Makarfi and Zaria, including the Durum–Kuruntumawa and Magajiya–Kasuwan Amaru routes. These projects aim to reduce congestion in towns and facilitate smoother commerce, with the state government reportedly paying over ₦1 billion in compensation to property owners affected by the construction.
Several previously stalled projects, including works in Rigasa (Igabi LGA), have resumed following the settlement of land compensation issues. The administration has pledged that all communities in Kaduna State will benefit from improved road networks, covering all 23 local government areas.
Officials say the road projects are expected to stimulate economic growth, reduce transportation costs, enhance rural inclusion, and improve urban mobility. Local traders, farmers, and commuters have expressed optimism, describing the improved roads as transformative for their daily activities.
Governor Sani reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the timely completion of all road projects, emphasizing that infrastructure development remains a key priority of his administration.
