Ogun Tops Nigeria’s 2025 Road Crash List, FCT, Kaduna Follow
Ogun State recorded the highest number of road crash cases in Nigeria in 2025, with 1,012 incidents reported, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) followed with 798 cases, while Kaduna State ranked third with 730 reported accidents. Other states in the top 12 included Oyo (629), Lagos (576), Nasarawa (448), Niger (435), Plateau (398), Jigawa (385), Ondo (382), Kano (369), and Kogi (349).
Data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that the South West region, represented by Ogun, Oyo, Lagos and Ondo, accounted for a significant portion of road accidents, while the North Central and North West regions also recorded high numbers, with FCT, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau and Kogi leading in the North Central, and Kaduna, Jigawa, and Kano in the North West.
The statistics highlight persistent road safety challenges across Nigeria, emphasizing the need for stricter traffic enforcement and public awareness campaigns.
