Governor Yusuf Sacks Kano Head of Service

The Governor of Abba Kabir Yusuf has relieved the Kano State Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, of his appointment with immediate effect.

The decision was disclosed in a statement issued by the Director-General, Media and Publicity to the Governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa. According to the statement, the move forms part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to reposition the state civil service for greater efficiency, discipline, and improved service delivery across government institutions.

Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to the outgoing Head of Service for his contributions and dedication to the service of the state during his tenure.

The statement also announced that Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary in charge of Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, has been directed to serve as Acting Head of Service pending the appointment of a substantive replacement.

According to the directive, the outgoing Head of Service has been instructed to hand over the affairs of the office to the Acting Head of Service no later than Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

The development is seen as part of the state government’s broader plan to strengthen administrative structures and enhance efficiency within the Kano State civil service.
