EFCC Grills Federal High Court Chief Judge, Tsoho Over $160,000 Found With Wife

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has interrogated Justice John Tsoho, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, for several hours following the discovery of $160,000 in the possession of his wife.

The cash was reportedly found when Mrs. Tsoho was intercepted by EFCC operatives while travelling to Benue State. She was subsequently returned to Abuja for further questioning, prompting the EFCC to summon the Chief Judge to clarify the source and purpose of the funds.

Although the EFCC has not issued an official statement, sources confirmed that Justice Tsoho was grilled on whether proper legal procedures were followed in acquiring and declaring the funds.

This development comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Justice Tsoho’s asset declarations by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), following allegations that he may have failed to declare certain accounts and assets as required by law.

Under Nigerian law, public officers must disclose all assets, including foreign currency accounts, with penalties for noncompliance ranging from fines to imprisonment and disqualification from public office.

Justice Tsoho has denied any wrongdoing and pledged full cooperation with both the EFCC and CCB. His legal representative, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Kanu Agabi, is expected to provide further legal support as the investigations continue.

At this stage, no formal charges have been filed, and the EFCC and Federal High Court have yet to release official statements regarding the matter.
