Preparations in Top Gear for APC’s 2026 National Convention
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified preparations for its 2026 national convention with the inauguration of a dedicated Accommodation and Transportation Committee by the Minister of Works, David Umahi.
The convention, scheduled for March 27–28 in Abuja, is expected to draw thousands of delegates, party leaders, government officials, and special guests from across Nigeria.
The committee, co-chaired by Umahi and the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been tasked with coordinating all logistics related to accommodation and transportation for participants. Its responsibilities include arranging hotel bookings, planning transport between airports, hotels, and the convention venue and ensuring the smooth movement of delegates and special guests throughout the event.
The inauguration took place at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja, where Umahi emphasized the importance of meticulous planning for large-scale political gatherings. He noted that the success of such events largely depends on how well logistics are organized and highlighted the committee’s role in ensuring a seamless convention.
The operational structure of the committee has been divided into two closely coordinated arms: transportation, headed by Umahi, and accommodation, led by Governor Yusuf. This arrangement aims to streamline planning and execution, ensuring that all logistical aspects are professionally managed.
Committee members include experienced leaders from government and the party, whose expertise is expected to contribute to the convention’s efficiency. The Secretary of the committee, Ahmed Dangiwa, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, noted that the composition of the committee reflects the APC’s commitment to the convention’s success.
With the inauguration of the committee, preparations have entered a critical phase, signaling that the party is focused on demonstrating its organizational capacity and ensuring the event proceeds without disruption.
