PDP Faction Loyal to Wike Moves Ahead with Plans for National Convention
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has intensified preparations for its planned national convention scheduled for March 29 and 30, 2026.
Leaders of the faction on Tuesday inspected the proposed venue for the convention as part of ongoing arrangements for the event.
The inspection was led by the Chairman of the faction’s National Caretaker Working Committee, Abdulrahman Mohammed, alongside the party’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.
The move comes after the faction successfully challenged the convention organised by a rival group led by former Minister of Special Duties, Taminu Turaki, in court.
The earlier convention held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, was subsequently nullified following the legal dispute between the two groups within the party.
Party officials said the upcoming convention would provide an opportunity for the faction to consolidate its leadership structure and chart a path forward for the party.
Further details regarding the convention programme are expected to be released as preparations progress.
