Governor Seyi Makinde has sworn in 17 new Permanent Secretaries at the Agodi Secretariat in Ibadan.

The ceremony included top officials like the Deputy Governor and the Chief Judge.

The Governor confirmed that the appointments were based strictly on merit and competence. Each appointee was selected following a rigorous examination process designed to ensure professional excellence within the state’s bureaucracy.

While prioritizing merit, the administration also balanced the selection across different geopolitical zones. This approach aimed to ensure fair representation and religious diversity among the state’s high-ranking civil servants.

Governor Makinde urged the new leaders to prioritize loyalty to Oyo State over personal allegiance to him. He reminded them that while administrations change, the state’s institutions must remain stable and dedicated.

The appointees were cautioned against letting personal interests conflict with their official duties. Makinde emphasized the need for absolute probity, transparency, and fairness in managing their respective offices and resources.

The 17 officials represent various sectors, including eight from the mainstream civil service and four from education. Others include representatives from the local government sector, the House of Assembly, and the Auditor-General.

Highlighting upcoming political transitions, the Governor noted that a new administration would soon be forming its cabinet. He stressed that institutional loyalty ensures the state continues to thrive regardless of political shifts.

The event concluded with the administration of the Oaths of Office and Allegiance. Dignitaries, including the Head of Service and various commissioners, joined the Governor in congratulating the state’s newest accounting officers.
