Uba Sani Urges Greater Investment in Women, Girls at International Women’s Day

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has called for increased investment in women and girls, stressing that their empowerment is essential to building inclusive, stable and prosperous societies.

Sani made the appeal in a message issued on Sunday to commemorate International Women’s Day, celebrated globally every year on March 8.

In a statement shared on his verified Facebook page, the governor said the occasion offers an opportunity to recognise the resilience, strength and contributions of women to the growth of communities and nations.

According to him, women across generations have continued to influence society through courage, creativity and determination despite facing numerous social and economic challenges.

“Today, as we commemorate International Women’s Day 2026, I join the people of Kaduna State and the global community in celebrating the strength, resilience, creativity and enduring contributions of women to the progress of our societies,” he said.

Sani noted that women play critical roles in sustaining families, nurturing communities and driving positive social transformation.

He described this year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” as a reminder that meaningful development can only be achieved when societies deliberately invest in women and girls.

The governor explained that empowering women helps strengthen families, improve institutions and boost economic growth.

He also emphasised the importance of women’s participation in governance and public life, describing it as vital for sustainable development.

Highlighting initiatives by his administration, Sani said the Kaduna State Government has continued to expand opportunities for women in governance, entrepreneurship and community development.

He added that policies aimed at promoting inclusion and protecting the rights of women and girls are being implemented to remove barriers that have historically limited their participation in public and economic life.

“Through policies and programmes that promote inclusion, protect the rights of women and girls, and support women-oriented initiatives, we are steadily dismantling barriers that have long limited their participation,” the governor said.

Sani further noted that women are already occupying important leadership positions in the state and are making significant contributions to governance and public service.

According to him, their increasing presence in leadership roles demonstrates that empowering women ultimately leads to stronger institutions and more prosperous societies.

He urged citizens to renew their commitment to supporting women and girls so they can achieve their full potential.

“By giving women the opportunities, respect and support they deserve, we ensure that our state, and indeed our nation, will truly gain,” he added.
