Thousands of Akwa Ibom women have gathered in Uyo to endorse President Bola Tinubu for a 2027 second term.

The event, marking International Women’s Day, was attended by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.

The women also declared support for Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Governor Umo Eno. Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi read the formal declaration, showcasing regional and federal political unity.

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu emphasized that protecting women’s rights through education is vital for Nigeria’s future. She described such empowerment as a necessary investment for national development.

She urged women to be agents of change in their homes and workplaces.

The First Lady noted that purposeful leadership by women creates a positive impact across the entire nation.

Mrs. Tinubu defended the administration’s reforms as the foundation for sustainable prosperity. She called on Nigerians to remain united to protect the progress achieved under the current government.

Stressing the importance of patience, she stated, “A house is not built in a day, but when the foundation is solid, the structure will stand the test of time. Let us remain united and focused to protect the gains we have made.”

Earlier, the First Lady commissioned a new Senior Citizens Centre in Uyo named in her honor. The facility provides healthcare and social support for the elderly in a dignified environment.

Senate President Akpabio and Governor Eno concluded the event by praising women’s stabilizing role in society. They pledged continued support for initiatives favoring women and senior citizens.
