Former Governor of Rivers State and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially transitioned to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He finalized his membership registration on Friday morning at Ward 8 in Ubima, located within the Ikwerre Local Government Area. This move follows reports that the party’s local office had been targeted and set on fire by thugs prior to his arrival.
Addressing a crowd of supporters after the registration, Amaechi called for restraint and advised his followers against engaging in any form of retaliation or chaos.
He stated, “Don’t be violent because violence may lead to the death of somebody don’t be violent. At the same time, they can’t stop us from meeting in our community.”
Amaechi also commended the performance of the security personnel on the ground, specifically praising the State Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services.
Additionally, he urged law enforcement to quickly find and prosecute the individuals responsible for the arson, asserting that such intimidation tactics would not hinder the ADC’s progress in the region.
