President Tinubu Mourns Victims of Borno Boko Haram Attack

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed condolences to families affected by a terrorist attack on Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area, describing the incident as a tragic loss of innocent lives.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President sympathised with relatives of the victims and residents impacted by the assault carried out by insurgents believed to be members of Boko Haram.

Tinubu lamented that the attack claimed the lives of several people, including members of the military, as well as individuals who were reportedly affected during an aerial operation by the Nigerian Air Force targeting fleeing terrorists.

He described the assault on civilians as a cruel and senseless act, while urging residents in Borno State and other parts of the country not to give in to fear.

The President also praised the military for their rapid response to the attack, noting that security forces successfully neutralised several terrorists and forced others to retreat during the operation.

Tinubu further directed the armed forces and other security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue individuals abducted during the incident.

He also instructed security operatives to strengthen measures aimed at protecting civilians and safeguarding military facilities, particularly in the North-East region where insurgent activities remain a concern.

The President offered prayers for those who lost their lives in both the terrorist attack and the related aerial operation, while extending his sympathies to their families and the Borno State Government.
