They’re Telling Christians to convert or die’, Alleges US Lawmaker on Terrorists

A U.S. lawmaker has condemned a brutal attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in Adamawa State, in which the terrorists reportedly told Christians to convert or face death.

According to a post on X by security analyst Brant Philip, the militants have claimed responsibility for killing 27 Christians and burning at least 10 houses during the assault in February.

In owning up to the attack, the terrorists reiterated their demand that Nigerian Christians must “either pay the jizyah tax, convert to Islam, or be killed”—a directive they described as a “fair deal.”

Reacting to the incident, U.S. Congressman Riley M. Moore expressed alarm over what he described as the explicit targeting of Christians for their faith. In a post on X, he lamented that “bloodthirsty assailants” are now forcing Christians to either convert to Islam or be killed, and urged the Nigerian government to take immediate action.

“Christians continue to be explicitly targeted for their faith in Nigeria,” Moore wrote. “ISIS-West Africa is slaughtering Christians and telling other Christians they must convert or die.”

He added, “In our report to the White House, we made it clear that increased American support is contingent on the Nigerian government doing more to defend Christians. Now is the time for Abuja to step up.”
