Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has launched an extensive distribution of agricultural tools and Ramadan palliatives to improve food security and community wellbeing.
The initiative, inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, highlights a major push toward rural development and farming support.
The intervention includes thousands of solar irrigation pumps, power tillers, and sprayers, alongside a massive supply of herbicides and fertilizers.
Furthermore, a large-scale food distribution program is underway to provide essential supplies to over one million people during the Ramadan period.
During the launch, Governor Idris emphasized that his administration is dedicated to ensuring the benefits of government reaching those in need.
He noted, “Transparent and direct distribution remains the surest way of reaching our rural communities, who are our ultimate target.”
According to his aide, Abdullahi Zuru, this year’s welfare and agricultural package marks a 40 percent increase compared to previous years. Beyond agriculture, the governor has also invested heavily in education and power infrastructure, including thousands of school desks and a multi-million naira electricity transformers.
On the political front, the state APC recently held a peaceful congress where new leaders were selected through a consensus-driven process. The successful transition has been credited to the governor’s ability to maintain harmony within the party.
Observers believe these socio-economic and political efforts have strengthened the governor’s position. Kebbi State is now increasingly recognized for its focus on agricultural expansion, public welfare, and political stability.
