Oyebamiji Meets Tinubu, Pledges Unity Ahead of Osun Governorship Poll

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15, 2026, off-cycle election.

Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, disclosed this after a meeting with the President in Abuja, describing the engagement as productive and encouraging as preparations intensify for the crucial poll.

The APC flagbearer was accompanied by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola.

In a statement shared on his official X handle on Tuesday, Oyebamiji expressed appreciation for Tinubu’s continued leadership and commitment to progressive governance, noting that the President’s endorsement has further energised his campaign.

“As we prepare for the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, I am strengthened by Mr President’s enduring belief in my capacity and in the principles of responsible leadership and development,” Oyebamiji stated.

He said the meeting reinforced his resolve to pursue unity within the APC in Osun, deepen reconciliation efforts among party stakeholders, and consolidate grassroots support ahead of the election.

Oyebamiji added that Tinubu’s broader vision for national economic renewal would serve as a guiding framework for his agenda in Osun, promising to prioritise people-centred policies, job creation, and long-term economic stability if elected.

The APC candidate pledged to present a clear and actionable blueprint aimed at repositioning the state for sustainable growth and shared prosperity, assuring party members and residents that his aspiration is anchored on inclusive governance and service delivery.

Political observers say the meeting signals the Presidency’s strategic interest in retaining Osun for the APC, as the party intensifies efforts to mobilise support and close ranks ahead of the off-cycle election.

The August 15 poll is expected to be closely contested, with parties already ramping up consultations and campaign structures across the state.
