Qatar Warns Iran’s Attacks ‘Will Not Go Unanswered’
The government of Qatar has warned that recent attacks attributed to Iran “will not go unanswered,” escalating tensions in the Gulf region as security concerns mount.
In an official statement released on Monday, Qatari authorities confirmed that missile and drone threats targeting parts of the country were intercepted.
According to government officials, some of the projectiles were aimed at civilian infrastructure, including facilities near the capital, Doha.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al Ansari described the alleged attacks as a “serious violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and international law,” stressing that the country reserves the right to respond in a manner consistent with international norms.
Qatar’s attacks will not go unanswered,” the spokesperson said, adding that the country’s air defense systems successfully intercepted incoming threats and that security agencies remain on high alert.
Authorities said there were no immediate reports of mass casualties, though assessments of minor damage were ongoing.
Residents were urged to rely on official government channels for updates and to avoid spreading unverified information on social media.
The warning comes amid a broader regional escalation involving Iran and several Gulf and international actors.
Tensions have intensified in recent weeks following military developments across the Middle East, raising fears of a wider conflict that could disrupt regional stability and global energy markets.
Qatar, which has historically positioned itself as a diplomatic mediator in regional disputes, now appears to be adopting a firmer tone.
Officials emphasized that while the country remains committed to dialogue and de-escalation, it will take necessary measures to safeguard national security and protect civilian infrastructure.
