One Dead, Flights Disrupted after Drone Attack in Abu Dhabi, Dubai

At least one person was killed and 11 others injured after missiles and drones struck areas near major airports in the United Arab Emirates, officials confirmed.

The incident occurred late Saturday, with emergency teams responding to multiple sites.

Authorities in Abu Dhabi reported that debris from an intercepted drone targeting Zayed International Airport caused one fatality, a foreign national, and injured seven others. Separately, four individuals were hurt in an incident at Dubai International Airport, according to airport officials.

Emergency services deployed immediately, and flight operations at both airports were suspended as a precaution. Thousands of passengers were affected as airlines cancelled or delayed services, and airspace in the country was temporarily closed.

Officials stated that the UAE’s air defence systems intercepted dozens of missiles and drones launched from Iran, with most neutralised before impact. However, falling debris caused damage in several locations, including residential areas and airport vicinity.

Authorities urged the public to rely on verified information and avoid spreading rumours, promising further updates as investigations continue.

The strikes occurred amid escalating regional tensions following military actions by the United States and Israel against Iranian targets.
