Follow Electoral Rules, Ekiti Governor Charges Opposition as He promises Peaceful Campaigns

The Governor of Ekiti state, Biodun Oyebanji has pledged that his campaign activities will comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act and urged candidates from other political parties to conduct their campaigns peacefully and within legal limits.

Speaking at the monthly Evening of Praise and Worship programme at Jibowu Hall in Government House, the governor stressed the importance of non-violent politics as the state prepares for upcoming elections.

He called on political actors to avoid inflammatory rhetoric and actions that could undermine peace in Ekiti State.

Oyebanji also prayed for the success of the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing hope for the president’s re-election in the 2027 polls.

He described governance as a collective responsibility and urged citizens to continue supporting initiatives aimed at improving development in the state and country.

Commenting on his recent recognition as Governor of the Year in 2025 by several media organisations, Oyebanji dedicated the awards to the people of Ekiti.

He stated that the honours reflected the support and mandate given to him by residents and credited the achievements of his administration to their cooperation.

“As the campaign timelines announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, let us continue to prioritise peace,” the governor said.

He urged political actors to conduct their campaigns with civility and avoid actions that could destabilise the state.

Oyebanji affirmed that he would abide by the Electoral Act in his capacity as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, committing to a peaceful and issue-based campaign.

He also encouraged rival candidates to embrace similar principles of decency and respect for democratic processes.

The governor concluded by appealing for continued prayers for the state and the nation, including support for President Tinubu’s administration. He emphasised that governance should prioritise the welfare of citizens and that elections should be decided through peaceful democratic processes.
