I’ll Resign If Tinubu Loses Presidential Race, Vows Okpebholo

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has declared that he would resign from office if President Bola Tinubu fails to win re-election, reiterating his confidence in the governing All Progressives Congress.

Okpebholo made the statement while speaking to supporters in Benin City, dismissing opposition claims of strength in the state.

He insisted that the APC enjoys broad grassroots backing, crediting what he described as the positive impact of Tinubu’s administration at the national level.

The governor also took a swipe at former Edo governor Godwin Obaseki, questioning his political relevance and suggesting that his record in office would hinder his ability to campaign freely.

highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including flyovers and major road constructions, arguing that these developments would demonstrate the effectiveness of his administration and help secure electoral success for the APC.

He maintained that his political approach is rooted in grassroots engagement rather than confrontational tactics.

Opposition parties have yet to respond to the governor’s remarks, but analysts say the statement reflects the high stakes surrounding the political landscape in Edo State, where the APC and opposition forces are expected to fiercely contest upcoming elections.
