Seven Die in Keffi-Abuja Crash; FRSC Orders Probe

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

Seven people have been confirmed dead following a horrific road accident along the Keffi-Abuja expressway.

The crash involved a commercial bus and a heavy-duty truck, leading to immediate fatalities at the scene.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), several other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries. The victims were rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment, while the deceased were moved to a morgue.

Preliminary reports suggest that the accident was caused by a combination of excessive speeding and loss of control.

The impact of the collision left the commercial vehicle severely mangled, temporarily trapping some occupants.

In response to the tragedy, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

He emphasized the need to identify any mechanical failures or human errors involved.

The FRSC highlighted that the Keffi-Abuja corridor has become a high-risk zone due to reckless driving. Officials warned motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits and maintain their vehicles to avoid such preventable disasters.

Traffic on the expressway was heavily disrupted for several hours as emergency responders worked to clear the wreckage. FRSC personnel and local police coordinated efforts to restore the flow of vehicles and ensure public safety.

The agency extended its condolences to the families of the victims and reiterated its commitment to road safety. They vowed to prosecute any drivers found guilty of negligence once the full investigation report is concluded.
