NDLEA Sacks Kano Drug Hubs: 19 Arrested, 109kg of Narcotics Seized

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Kano Command has arrested 19 suspects during intensive raids aimed at dismantling drug distribution networks.

The operations targeted high-risk areas to curb the rising tide of substance abuse across the state.

A significant haul of illicit substances, including cannabis sativa and psychotropic drugs, was recovered during the sting operation. The seizure underscores the agency’s resolve to sanitize the state from dangerous narcotics.

Confiscated items totaled 109.2 kilograms of various drugs and several bottles of codeine syrup. Raids focused on notorious “black spots” used by criminals to coordinate illegal activities and distribution.

The suspects were apprehended in the state capital and surrounding local government areas. These proactive arrests were designed to preemptively lower drug-related crime rates during the upcoming festive season.

Investigations are currently underway to track the suppliers and financiers behind the arrested individuals.

The NDLEA aims to destroy the entire supply chain to prevent the trade from resurfacing.

The commander urged public cooperation, stating, “We will not relent in our efforts to ensure that Kano remains a hostile environment for drug dealers and those who trade in illicit substances.”
