The Federal Character Commission has opened discussions with an international investment delegation on possible collaboration to strengthen its digital systems and enhance service delivery.
The Executive Chairman of the commission, Motunrayo Omidiran, received the delegation led by Mr Michael Gale, Founder and Group CEO of Al Liwan Group Limited, at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
The delegation, which arrived from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, held talks with the commission’s leadership on practical partnership models aimed at supporting digital upgrades, institutional efficiency, and improved public service delivery.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the FCC’s spokesman, Ademola Lawrence, the discussions centred on deploying technology-driven solutions to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and ensure compliance with the Federal Character principle.
Omidiran emphasised during the meeting that technology has become indispensable to effective governance, noting that modern digital infrastructure would significantly enhance the commission’s oversight functions.
“Strengthening our digital infrastructure will help the commission improve monitoring, ensure better compliance with the Federal Character principle, and enhance transparency in carrying out our constitutional responsibilities,” she said.
The FCC is constitutionally mandated to promote fair and equitable representation of Nigeria’s diverse ethnic, regional, and social groups in federal public service appointments and the distribution of national resources.
In his remarks, Gale commended the commission’s reform initiatives, stating that institutions that embrace digital transformation are better positioned to deliver measurable and transparent outcomes.
He said the delegation was encouraged by the commission’s vision and reform direction and expressed readiness to explore sustainable collaboration that would support long-term institutional growth.
The proposed partnership aligns with the commission’s broader reform agenda, which includes modernising operations, strengthening accountability mechanisms, and leveraging technology to improve efficiency and service delivery.
Since assuming office, Omidiran has prioritised institutional reforms focused on transparency, compliance monitoring, and digital transformation as part of efforts to reposition the commission for greater effectiveness in promoting national inclusion and equity.
Further engagements between both parties are expected as discussions on the scope and framework of the potential collaboration progress.
