Kano Rep Booed, Escorted Out of APC Ward Congress

A member of the House of Representatives representing Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimin Gado Federal Constituency, Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, was on Saturday booed and hurriedly escorted out of the ward congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State following protests by some aggrieved youths.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred shortly after the federal lawmaker arrived at the venue of the congress, as a group of youths began chanting slogans and expressing dissatisfaction over what they described as internal party grievances.
The situation reportedly created tension at the gathering, prompting security personnel and party officials to swiftly intervene.
Sources within the party disclosed that the protesting youths accused the lawmaker of sidelining certain stakeholders in the build-up to the congress, though specific details of their grievances were not immediately clear.
The ward congress was part of the APC’s nationwide exercise aimed at electing ward executives and strengthening grassroots structures ahead of future political activities.
To prevent the situation from escalating, security operatives and party leaders formed a protective cordon around Jobe and escorted him out of the venue. The congress proceedings later continued under tight security.
Efforts to reach the lawmaker for comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
However, a party official in Tofa, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the incident as “an internal misunderstanding” that would be resolved through dialogue.
The development underscores lingering tensions within the APC in Kano State, where factions have in recent years engaged in power struggles over party leadership and control of structures at the state and local government levels.
Party leaders in the state have repeatedly called for unity among members, urging stakeholders to channel grievances through established mechanisms rather than disrupting official activities.
