APC Intensifies Mobilisation Drive as Leaders Meet at Presidential Villa
Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other party leaders on Tuesday reaffirmed their commitment to deepening grassroots mobilisation to advance President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The pledge was made in Abuja at the PGF Renewed Hope Ambassadors Summit 2026 held at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa.
Representing the president, Vice President Kashim Shettima said the administration was transitioning from an economic stabilisation phase in 2025 to an acceleration phase in 2026, anchored on a proposed N58.18 trillion budget.
According to him, the 2026 fiscal plan features record capital expenditure, increased allocation to national security and revenue projections aimed at consolidating economic recovery while strengthening resilience.
“As we advance into 2026, our focus shifts from stabilisation to acceleration,” he said, adding that reforms undertaken by the administration were beginning to yield results, including moderating inflation, easing fuel prices and improved currency stability.
Shettima noted that landmark tax reforms were introduced to protect vulnerable citizens, promote enterprise and enhance transparency in public finance. He also referenced a recent executive order on remittances to the federation account, describing it as a measure to safeguard public revenue and eliminate waste.
The vice president stressed that reforms would only succeed with public understanding and participation, urging members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to expand engagement beyond official events to communities, markets and campuses nationwide.
“They must counter misinformation with facts and serve as a feedback channel between citizens and government,” he said, emphasising that electoral success depends on direct voter engagement rather than social media narratives.
He also called for unity among party leaders, citing the situation in Benue State and appealing for reconciliation among stakeholders to strengthen the party’s structure.
Earlier, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda observed that many infrastructure projects executed by the federal and state governments had not received adequate publicity, stressing that effective communication was critical to translating governance achievements into political gains.
Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Hope Uzodinma, said the summit was aimed at consolidating party unity and reinforcing public confidence in the administration’s socio-economic policies.
Uzodinma maintained that clear and patriotic communication would bridge perception gaps and enhance trust at the grassroots, noting improvements in food supply and domestic energy production.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, urged authorities to create room for citizen participation, while Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, described the Renewed Hope Agenda as a unifying national message.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, speaking on behalf of the Federal Executive Council, expressed appreciation to the president and pledged continued efforts to drive reforms, create jobs and attract investment.
The summit concluded with party leaders reiterating their resolve to strengthen mobilisation structures ahead of future political engagements while sustaining support for the administration’s reform agenda.
