Tinubu Hosts Governors, Officials at Aso Rock Ramadan Iftar
President Bola Tinubu on Monday evening hosted state governors and senior government officials at a Ramadan Iftar dinner at the State House, Abuja.
The annual event, now in its third consecutive year, brought together governors, deputy governors and top federal officials to break the day’s fast during the holy month of Ramadan.
Among the governors who arrived at the Presidential Villa before 7:00 p.m. were Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, Usman Ododo of Kogi, Babagana Zulum of Borno, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Mohammed Bago of Niger, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano and Agbu Kefas of Taraba.
The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State was also in attendance.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and several cabinet members were present at the gathering.
The Iftar forms part of the President’s annual Ramadan tradition of hosting political and government leaders at the State House.
At the 2025 Iftar, Tinubu urged governors and ministers to prioritise citizens’ welfare, saying, according to him, “Do more for your people.”
He also called for national unity, stressing, according to him, that Nigeria should be seen as “one big family living under the same roof,” irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
In 2024, the President appealed to governors to set aside political differences and focus on governance, declaring, according to him, that “the time for politics is over. It is now time for governance.”
Tinubu is expected to host additional Iftar gatherings with senior government officials, traditional rulers and members of the diplomatic corps during the Ramadan period.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari also maintained a similar tradition, hosting leaders of the National Assembly, the Judiciary, party officials and other stakeholders during Ramadan.
