Boko Haram Attack on Adamawa Military Camp Kills Four

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents raided a military camp in Garaha, Adamawa, on Saturday morning. The attack left three soldiers dead and claimed the life of a civilian woman struck by a stray bullet while fleeing the gunfire.

The insurgents ambushed the camp from the rear, catching troops off guard with sporadic shooting. In addition to killing the personnel, the attackers razed the entire military facility and burned down a local primary school.

A witness, Isaiah Yerima, highlighted the ferocity of the battle despite the heavy losses. He stated “The targeted military men rose to the occasion and fought back gallantly, but the invaders had the upper hand, and the entire military camp was burnt down.”

The Hong Local Government Area has faced a surge in similar assaults over recent months. This latest strike on public infrastructure and security forces has intensified the climate of fear among residents in the Garaha District.

While the police and military have yet to issue a formal statement, local authorities have validated the report. Hong LG Chairman Usman Aliyu Wa’aganda and paramount ruler Tol Alheri Nyako both confirmed the deadly incident.

The raid underscores the persistent volatility in the North-East despite ongoing counter-insurgency efforts. Community leaders are now calling for a more robust security presence to prevent further destruction of lives and critical educational facilities.
