Barcelona Reclaim Top Spot as LaLiga Delivers Drama Across the Board

It was a pulsating round of LaLiga action, packed with late drama, comebacks and a significant shift at the summit.

Barcelona returned to the top of the table with a commanding 3-0 victory over Levante at Camp Nou.

First-half strikes from Marc Bernal and Frenkie de Jong put Hansi Flick’s side in control, before Fermin Lopez sealed the win with a stunning late effort.

The result saw Barcelona leapfrog Real Madrid, who had slipped up 24 hours earlier.

That shock came at El Sadar, where Osasuna beat Real Madrid for the first time in 15 years with a dramatic 2-1 triumph. Ante Budimir’s penalty gave the hosts the lead before Vinicius Junior levelled in the second half.

However, Raul Garcia struck in the 90th minute, with VAR overturning an initial offside call to spark wild celebrations. Despite the defeat, Madrid remain first temporarily, with European commitments looming.

Atletico Madrid responded to recent setbacks in emphatic fashion, coming from behind to beat Espanyol 4-2. Alexander Sorloth scored twice as Diego Simeone’s side overturned an early deficit, with Giuliano Simeone and Ademola Lookman also on target in a dominant second-half display.

Elsewhere, Real Sociedad and Real Oviedo played out a chaotic 3-3 draw. Late goals defined the contest, including a 90th-minute equaliser and a stoppage-time strike, capping a six-goal thriller.

Real Betis were held to a 1-1 draw by Rayo Vallecano despite taking an early lead through Cedric Bakambu, while Sevilla edged past Getafe 1-0 after Djené’s first-half red card left the hosts with an uphill task.

Celta Vigo secured a dramatic 2-0 win over Mallorca, with Iago Aspas converting a late penalty before adding a stoppage-time second.

Meanwhile, Villarreal claimed a 2-1 victory against Valencia in a tightly contested encounter featuring two penalties.

With Barcelona back on top, Real Madrid reeling from a rare defeat, and Atletico rediscovering momentum, the LaLiga title race has taken another dramatic twist.
