Army Foils Abduction, Rescues Five Travellers in Enugu

Troops of Operation UDO KA on Friday evening, foiled a kidnapping attempt in Enugu.Â
The intervention occurred along the 9th Mile axis following a distress call regarding an attack on commuters traveling toward Anambra State.
The Nigerian Army reported that suspected IPOB/ESN members launched the ambush around 6:55 pm. Upon reaching the scene, troops engaged the armed group with superior firepower and tactical maneuvers.
The military’s swift response forced the gunmen to abandon their captives and flee. Consequently, five victims were rescued unharmed, and their vehicle was recovered intact.
Following the rescue, troops intensified aggressive patrols to track the fleeing suspects. These efforts aim to dominate the area and prevent criminal elements from regrouping within the region.
The Army stated that the operation has successfully reinforced public confidence and reassured road users. Such proactive measures are designed to degrade the operational capabilities of hostile actors in the Southeast.
Reaffirming its commitment to national security, the Army vowed to continue dismantling terrorist networks. Officials emphasized their resolve to safeguard lives and secure critical transportation routes across the country.
