APC Agent Alleges Over-voting in Kuje Polls

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

During Sunday’s collation, APC agent Haruna Jatau challenged the results from Gudun Karya Ward due to alleged breaches. Emphasizing the party’s stance, he stated, “The APC rejects the election results from Gudun Karya.”

Jatau claimed over-voting occurred in Zagabutu and manual accreditation replaced BVAS in Huni village. These allegations sparked a heated debate regarding the validity of the votes cast in those specific units.

Collation officer Zubairu Mohammed denied the manual accreditation claims but admitted a polling officer was forced by thugs to rewrite results.

He noted the figures were later corrected to align with BVAS data.

INEC REC, Abubakar Dambu frowned at the cancellations on the result sheets. He instructed the APC to submit a formal written petition to the commission to address the irregularities.

The Soka collation center saw heavy security following Saturday’s disruptions by hoodlums. Officials and observers remained present to oversee the conclusion of the contentious counting process.

Despite the disputes and allegations of duress, the APC candidate was ultimately declared the winner of the Kuje chairmanship. The victory followed similar successes for the party across the FCT.
