Sheikh Gumi’s Son Joins Kaduna Assembly Race Under PDP

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

Ahmad Gumi, son of cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has declared his 2027 bid for the Kaduna North I constituency in the State House of Assembly.

Running under the PDP, he seeks to transition from private business to public service.

Ahmad’s entry has sparked significant interest due to his father’s public profile. Defining his mission, he stated, “My decision to run is born out of a deep-seated commitment to the welfare of our people and the conviction that the youths must take an active role.”

The aspirant argued that Kaduna’s security and economic challenges require youthful legislative energy. He stressed that citizens must participate directly in governance, noting, “We cannot afford to stay on the sidelines while the foundation of our society requires urgent legislative intervention.”

The move is seen as a strategic boost for the PDP’s grassroots influence. While his name provides a massive platform, Ahmad is focused on creating a distinct identity by prioritizing bills centered on education and economic empowerment.

Promising an inclusive campaign, Ahmad believes professional innovation can restore public confidence in local governance.

He asserted that “sincere leadership” is essential to solving the social issues currently plaguing his constituency and the wider state.

Gumi’s early declaration marks a high-profile start to the 2027 cycle in Kaduna. His candidacy will test how traditional religious legacies navigate the modern demands of a younger, politically active Nigerian electorate.
