Low Turnout as Voting Concludes at Area 10 Post Office

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

Voting has officially concluded at the Area 10 Post Office polling station. The process reached its finish line early this afternoon, with the final group of voters exiting the premises by 2:37 PM.

The atmosphere remained orderly as officials transitioned from active polling to administrative duties.

To facilitate the accreditation process, election officials deployed two Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines. The machines were split alphabetically to manage the queue, with the first unit handling voters with names starting with A through D, and the second covering E through Y.

Data recorded from the devices shows a relatively quiet turnout at this specific location. The first BVAS unit accredited 63 voters, while the second unit processed 67 voters, bringing the total number of accredited participants for the day to 130.

This turnout represents a small fraction of the station’s capacity, as the official register lists a total of 2,137 registered voters. Despite the high number of potential constituents, the station saw less than 10% engagement during the allotted voting hours.

With the polls now closed to the public, the presiding officers have moved into the “accountability phase.” This involves the meticulous task of canceling all unused ballot booklets to ensure the integrity of the remaining materials and prevent any unauthorized use.

Once the cancellation process is finalized, the team will begin the official sorting and counting of the cast ballots. Party agents and observers remain on-site to monitor the counting process as the community awaits the formal announcement of the local results.
