Court Postpones Malami, Son’s Trial to February 27 Over Public Holiday
By Rachel Akper
A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the trial of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and his son, Abdulaziz, to February 27, 2026, following a public holiday in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The adjournment was announced after the court recorded low staff attendance due to the holiday declared by the FCT Minister ahead of the upcoming area council elections.
Malami and his son are facing charges brought by the Department of State Services (DSS), including allegations of terrorism financing and unlawful possession of firearms. Both have pleaded not guilty to the charges in earlier court proceedings.
The case has previously seen several developments, including bail applications, property seizures, and other related proceedings connected to alleged money laundering and unlawful activities.
The next sitting, scheduled for February 27, is expected to continue the hearing of the charges against the duo.
