Osun Reduces Work Hours for Ramadan, Lent

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

Governor Ademola Adeleke has shortened daily work hours for Osun State civil servants. This adjustment supports workers observing the 2026 Ramadan and Lent fasting seasons simultaneously.

A circular from the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, confirms a 2:00 PM closing time from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, civil servants will close even earlier at 1:00 PM.

The Governor described the move as a welfare gesture to ease the burden on fasting staff. The goal is to provide more time for spiritual devotion and family prayers.

The official directive stated, “The Executive Governor has graciously approved that public servants should close work by 2pm from Mondays to Thursdays, and 1pm on Fridays.”

Essential workers, including medical and emergency personnel, are excluded from this temporary schedule. This ensures that critical public services remain fully operational during the religious period.

Heads of agencies and local governments have been ordered to implement the change immediately. Normal working hours will be restored once the fasting seasons conclude.
