The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 1,228,648 Nigerians have successfully completed their voter registration under Phase II of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as of February 13, 2026.
In its Week Six update shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, the commission revealed that 673,124 applicants completed their registration through the online pre-registration portal, while 555,524 registrants finalised the process physically at designated centres nationwide.
A breakdown of the figures shows that women accounted for the majority of new registrants, with 696,891 registrations representing 57 per cent of the total. Male registrants stood at 531,757, making up 43 per cent.
The data also indicated significant youth participation. According to INEC, 848,066 of the new registrants approximately 69.02 per cent fall within the 18 to 34 age bracket, underscoring growing political engagement among young Nigerians.
In addition, the commission reported that 19,414 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) have successfully registered during the ongoing exercise, reflecting efforts to promote inclusivity in the electoral process.
The CVR exercise forms a critical part of INEC’s preparations for upcoming elections. The commission has continued to urge eligible Nigerians who have not yet registered to take advantage of both the online pre-registration portal and physical registration centres before the stipulated deadline.
INEC reiterated its commitment to ensuring a credible and inclusive voter register, encouraging citizens to safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards as participation in elections begins with proper registration.
