Folk singer, Beautiful Nubia has accused gospel stars Yinka Ayefele and BBO of copyright infringement. He claims both artists used melodies from his track “Seven Lifes” without authorization.
The singer specifically flagged Ayefele’s 2012 song “Igbagbo Ireti” and BBO’s 2026 track “Amin.” He alleged that both songs borrowed core elements from his original work.
Akinlolu expressed deep frustration over the lack of intellectual property respect in Nigeria. He specifically called out “so-called gospel musicians” for failing to follow copyright laws.
This controversy highlights a recurring trend of intellectual property disputes in the Nigerian music industry. It follows similar high-profile authorship battles involving other major gospel stars.
Neither Ayefele nor BBO have publicly responded to the theft allegations.
The claims have sparked intense debate among fans regarding creative originality and industry ethics.
Demanding better professional standards, Beautiful Nubia stated, “Both stole their melodies from our original song ‘Seven Lifes’. When will Nigerians, learn to respect copyright?”
