Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, has visited FCT Area Councils to review preparations for Saturday’s elections.

He reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to neutrality, professionalism, and strict legal compliance during the assessment.

The Chairman and top officials toured Kuje, Gwagwalada, and Bwari councils. They received detailed briefings from local Electoral Officers on the planned deployment of voting materials and personnel.

Amupitan reminded staff that INEC is a constitutional institution, and their actions must reflect its integrity.

He emphasized that local officers are directly responsible for the success of operations in their areas.

To prevent delays, he ordered all election materials to be delivered to Registration Area Centres by Friday. This ensures a prompt start for polling units across the territory on Saturday morning.

The Chairman insisted that all activities follow the Constitution and the Electoral Act. He stated, “INEC, as established by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, functions as an institution,” demanding full adherence.

In Bwari, the team presented a solidarity card to the Chairman as a pledge of their dedication. This gesture signaled the staff’s collective resolve to conduct the election successfully.

Accreditation and voting will begin at 8:30 a.m. this Saturday. The commission has finalized coordination with security agencies to ensure a peaceful and orderly process for all FCT voters.
