Operation Whirl Stroke has arrested two suspects following a deadly attack by cattle rustlers in Guma, Benue State.

The incident left one herder dead and another critically injured, with the survivor now receiving medical care in neighboring Nasarawa State.

Acting on local intelligence, troops apprehended 23-year-old Terngu Aondohemba, who reportedly confessed to killing cattle belonging to herders. He also identified two accomplices currently at large, prompting an ongoing military manhunt to bring them to justice.

A second suspect, Mrs. Mercy Onban, was arrested in Korje Village after troops found her in possession of stolen meat. She is the wife of the individual alleged to have purchased the rustled livestock from the primary suspects.

Major General Moses Gara condemned the violence and reaffirmed the military’s resolve to end cattle rustling and communal killings.

He stressed that protecting both farmers and herders remains a top priority for the task force in the region.

The Force Commander urged community leaders to sustain timely intelligence sharing to prevent future security breaches. He noted that such collaboration is essential for restoring stability and safeguarding lives across Benue’s vulnerable border communities.
