The Lagos State Government has officially announced the date for the Lagos Fanti Carnival. This event celebrates the rich Afro-Brazilian heritage and the cultural legacy of the Fanti people.

The carnival is scheduled for Monday, April 6, 2026. It will take place at the Tafawa Balewa Square from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The government described the event as a “homecoming” and a bridge between past and future. It aims to honor the connection between West Africa and the diaspora through tradition and modernity.

Vibrant processions, ancestral music, and flamboyant costumes will be the highlights of the celebration. Attendees can expect communal gatherings that reflect the enduring connection of the Fanti people.

Various ticket options are available, including General and VIP Carnival Passes. These grants provide access to concerts, side events, film screenings, and special carnival dinners.

Participation passes are also available for those who wish to join the processions. A VIP Participation Pass allows guests to experience the event dressed in beautiful pageantry.

Specific passes have been created for different groups, including a Youth Pass for children under 12. A Creator Pass is available for social media documentation, and a Press Pass is reserved for media members.

Business owners can participate by obtaining a Vendor Pass to sell food, art, and fashion. This wide range of participation options ensures an inclusive and festive experience for all.
