The appointment was disclosed in a statement issued by the court’s Director of Information, Catherine Oby Christopher, who said the development took effect on Tuesday, February 17.
According to the statement, Shafa’s appointment followed the elevation of the former Chief Registrar, Sulaiman Amida Hassan, to the Bench as one of the newly appointed judges of the court.
Hassan is among 14 judges scheduled to be sworn in by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, at a ceremony slated for Wednesday.
The statement noted that the elevation was part of efforts to ensure continuity, efficiency and stability in the administrative leadership of the court.
It described Shafa as an experienced judicial administrator and legal practitioner with more than 18 years of service in the justice sector.
Before his new role, he served as Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Judicial Service Commission, where he was involved in judicial administration, policy coordination and institutional development.
The Federal High Court management congratulated Hassan on his elevation to the Bench and also wished Shafa success in his new assignment, expressing confidence that his experience will enhance administrative efficiency and support effective justice delivery.
