Dele Momodu Denies Anti-Peter Obi Stance

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

African Democratic Congress chieftain, Dele Momodu has dismissed claims that he opposes former presidential candidate Peter Obi. He clarified his stance after social media users accused him of harboring negative sentiments toward the former Anambra governor.

The controversy arose when an X user told Momodu to “purge” his anti-Obi bias. This was in response to Momodu advising PDP leader Bode George to drop his long-standing grievances against Atiku Abubakar.

Momodu reminded critics that he has supported Obi in the past. He specifically cited his public backing of the politician when Atiku first selected Obi as his vice-presidential running mate.

He also addressed the rumored rivalry between Atiku and Obi, asserting that no such enmity exists. Momodu noted that both men have remained cordial despite their different political paths.

The media mogul added that both leaders maintain significant mutual respect. He suggested that perceived friction is often a narrative pushed by supporters rather than the politicians themselves.

Rebuffing the allegations, Momodu stated, “I can never be anti-Obi. The first time I supported Obi was when Atiku picked him as running mate. I’m not aware they are enemies. They always treat each other with mutual respect in private and public.”
