Civil Rights Icon, Reverend Jesse Jackson Dies at 84

Reverend Jesse Jackson Snr., founder of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, has died peacefully at age 84. His family confirmed he passed away surrounded by loved ones, leaving a massive legacy of advocacy for global justice and equality.

His family described him as a “servant leader” dedicated to the voiceless and the oppressed. They urged the world to honor his memory by continuing the lifelong fight for the values of love and human dignity he championed.

Jackson rose to fame in the 1960s working alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He later became a political trailblazer, making historic runs for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1984 and 1988 to empower marginalized voters.

His campaigns shifted the American political landscape by mobilizing millions of new citizens to register and vote. Beyond politics, he was a master of grassroots organizing who inspired generations to demand social and economic rights.

In his final years, Jackson battled Parkinson’s disease and progressive supranuclear palsy. Despite these severe health challenges, he remained a committed activist and an influential voice for civil rights until the very end.

Public memorials will be held in Chicago to celebrate his life and global impact. Jackson is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, and their children, remaining a permanent symbol of the movement for freedom.
